Gov. John Kasich stopped by Castle Noel in Medina on Saturday and visited with owner Mike Klaus and his wife, Dana.
Kasich, a huge fan of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” purchased a replica of the Moose Mug belonging to Clark Griswold in the film. Kasich said the movie is one of his favorites and during his visit he got a look at Uncle Eddie’s RV from the film, one of the many Christmas movie props stored at Castle Noel.
Klaus, whose museum opened last year, said he was excited to open his doors to Kasich.
Klaus said Kasich has been pushing to create jobs and encourage entrepreneurs, so the visit fit with the goals Klaus has for his site.
“He is the most high-profile guest we’ve ever had,” Klaus said. “We know Medina’s a real gem and we’re excited about creating new ways to entertain.”
Kasich took a brief tour of the building and even took a ride down the famous slide from the movie “A Christmas Story.”
Kasich congratulated Klaus on the business.
“This is really great,” he said. “You’ve done great work here.”
