A Spencer man died from injuries sustained in a crash Sunday afternoon in Lorain County, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Loren Shick, 70, was driving east on state Route 18 in Penfield Township when his GMC Canyon went off the left side of the road into a field for a reason still unknown to investigators. The vehicle struck a ditch and Shick, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered head injuries. He was flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center, and died there shortly before 10 p.m., according to a patrol news release.
The crash is under investigation, but alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors, the release said.
