MEDINA — A Montville Township resident accused of shooting his wife in the hand was indicted this week on two felonious assault counts.
Along with the two second-degree felony assault charges that carry firearm specifications, John J. Wargo, 61, of the 3500 block of Turnberry Drive, also is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony.
The night of Feb. 20, Wargo’s 60-year-old wife, Cynthia, drove herself to the emergency room at Summa Health-Medina Medical Center, according to a police news release.
Emergency room staff called Montville police at 11:58 that night to report they were treating a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to her hand, the release said.
An initial investigation indicated a black, semi-automatic handgun was discharged during a domestic disturbance at the home, police said.
Wargo was being held Thursday on $1 million bond at the Medina County Jail, a spokeswoman said.
