MEDINA — The wife of a local resident who died of a drug overdose and a Medina Township man are charged in the husband’s death.
Maria J. Antonace, 49, of the 1100 block of Grove Lane, and Timothy M. Thomas, 45, of the 1000 block of Brandywine Drive, each face one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of corrupting another with drugs, first-degree felonies, in the death of 41-year-old Paul Antonace, according to common pleas court records.
During an investigation into the Oct. 13 death of Paul Antonace, Medina County Drug Task Force agents and Medina police detectives discovered sufficient evidence to believe that Maria Antonace and Thomas supplied the drug that led to Antonace’s death, according to a task force news release.
The county coroner ruled that Paul Antonace died as a result of a fentanyl overdose, the release said.
Medina police arrested Maria Antonace on April 5. She is being held at the Medina County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Thomas is in the jail on $75,000 bond.
Before being indicted in March on the manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs charges, Thomas was indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, during the initial phase of the investigation into Paul Antonace’s death, the release said.
After posting bond on that charge in October, authorities later discovered more than a pound of marijuana during a search of his home, the release said.
In December, he was indicted on charges of illegal cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana, fifth-degree felonies, court records show.
