Authorities arrested a man in Medina County on Tuesday morning in connection with a homicide investigation in Mansfield.
According to a news release from Mansfield police, 31-year-old Cody A. Lutz was taken into custody as a suspect in the stabbing death of a 90-year-old man. Police went to the elderly man’s apartment at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a 911 call about a possible deceased victim. There, police found 90-year-old Omar Brown dead inside his home.
Mansfield police Chief Ken Coontz said in the release that Major Crimes detectives during their investigation were able to develop suspect information that led to the arrest of Lutz in Medina County at 11:47 a.m.
Police released no additional information.
No other suspects are being sought in connection with this homicide, according to Coontz.
According to a story from the Mansfield News Journal, Brown was loved by everyone, was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church and just celebrated his 90th birthday on Feb. 10.
