BRUNSWICK — Police charged a 67-year-old Brunswick man with voyeurism and indecent exposure after he was allegedly looking at a teenage girl through her bedroom window.
Police Lt. Robert Safran said Wednesday that the incident happened at 1:08 a.m. April 8 at the Town Center Apartments in the 1200 block of Pearl Road. Authorities have since issued an arrest warrant for Jose Rivera after he failed to appear for a court hearing after posting a $2,500 bond.
Both charges are third-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.
Safran said officers initially went to the apartment complex to respond to a call about a possible prowler.
“(It was) a report that possibly someone was behind the building at Town Center Apartments and that the subject was supposedly looking into a window,” Safran said.
When two responding officers approached Rivera, they said he was looking into the window and his pants were down around his legs. He was standing on a cooler to look into the window, Safran said.
Rivera was arrested and taken to Medina County Jail.
Safran said this may not have been Rivera’s first time allegedly peeping into windows.
“He hasn’t ever been caught or charged with anything in the past, but we’ve received information from different sources and it’s possible that he’s done this before,” he said.
“I tell people if you see something suspicious, call us. Don’t assume that someone else is calling. Don’t think it’s nothing, call us.”
