Avon resident Ken Harbaugh has announced his campaign Saturday to represent Ohio’s 7th Congressional District, according to a news release.
Harbaugh, a Navy veteran, said in a statement he is spending time with potential future constituents completing service projects across the 10 counties within the district, including Lorain and Medina.
Harbaugh, a Democrat, hopes to challenge incumbent Republican Bob Gibbs of Lakeville in 2018.
Harbaugh joined volunteers Saturday in Medina for community gardening and conversation at Memorial Park on East Homestead Street.
“Politics as usual is not working. We need to send people to Congress who put country before party, and who place service above self. I am running to bring a common-sense approach to solving problems here in Ohio,” Harbaugh said in the news release.
Harbaugh lives in Avon with his wife, Annmarie. They are authors of “Here Be Dragons: A Parent’s Guide to Rediscovering Purpose, Adventure, and the Unfathomable Joy of the Journey.”
