Multiple police departments in Medina County responded Wednesday night to calls concerning three drug overdose cases.

Details were not immediately available about a suspected overdose and vehicle rollover on U.S. Route 224 near Buffham Road in Westfield Township.

Another overdose was reported on Warner Street in Seville, but again, details were unavailable Thursday.

In the third report, Brunswick Hills Township police and fire responded to a call on Boston Road and found a 21-year-old man from North Royalton unconscious but breathing, Police Chief Tim Sopkovich said Thursday.

The chief said the man is known to the department and has a history of overdoses.

Sopkovich said the frequency of calls continues even as Medina County treatment centers and others are working on drug education programs. He said people continue to use substances, sometimes not knowing what the drugs are.

“Drugs kill you,” he said. “It’s killing an entire generation.”

Sopkovich said the North Royalton man was transported to a hospital by the fire department but details on his condition were unknown Thursday.
