An Avon podiatrist with a medical practice in Medina who was accused to making unwanted sexual advances toward an employee at his Westlake medical office was found not guilty on all charges following a three-day trial this week in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
Anthony G. Polito, 54, was facing charges of gross sexual imposition, kidnapping and public indecency stemming from a Feb. 26, 2016, incident at his Health Campus Drive office.
He was accused of groping and exposing himself to a 22-year-old female medical assistant and asking if she wanted to have sex with him, according to court documents.
The woman said she resigned due to sexual harassment, court document show.
“I’m glad that this trial is over,” Polito said Friday. “I apologize to my patients, family and (Cleveland Clinic) Medina Hospital during this publicity. I did not do this and my innocence was proven in court.”
Polito’s Medina office, Great Lakes Foot & Ankle Associates, is at 4071 N. Jefferson St. He has been licensed as a podiatrist in Ohio since 1990, according to Medical Board of Ohio records.
He has no prior convictions in Medina or Cuyahoga county courts, according to records.
