A Buckeye Schools employee who allegedly submitted a fraudulent timecard last month pleaded not guilty to felony charges Thursday in Medina County Common Pleas Court.
Larry L. Swaney, 63, of Brunswick Hills Township, is charged with forgery and theft in office, fifth-degree felonies, stemming from an incident Sept. 2-16.
Judge Joyce V. Kimbler scheduled a Jan. 18 trial date for Swaney, who is free on bond.
Swaney, who has been employed as a bus mechanic with the district since 2005, is on paid administrative leave, Superintendent Kent Morgan said. His annual salary is $41,900.
Morgan declined to comment further on the case because it’s an “ongoing investigation.”
Swaney previously was terminated from the district in 2009 following accusations of misconduct and harassment, according to civil court documents. He later filed a civil suit against the district for termination “without just cause.” Through arbitration, he won his job back.
Swaney has no criminal convictions in Medina County courts.
