MEDINA — A 31-year-old Lodi man was indicted this week on three counts of rape of a child younger than 13.
Samuel L. Wood, of the 100 block of Sunset Drive, was arrested at his home the night of Feb 2, Lodi Police Chief Keith Keough has said. The chief said the two female victims were 12 and 13 years old.
A grand jury indicted Wood on the three rape counts for incidents that allegedly occurred from about Dec. 22 to Jan. 2, according to court documents filed Wednesday. The counts, first-degree felonies, carry a penalty of up to life in prison.
Keough said an officer received a complaint from the mother of one of the girls the evening of Feb. 2, who named Wood as a suspect.
“The officer that took the call got the information from the report, and talked to the two little girls,” Keough said. “Their statements were consistent with one another. Wood was named.” Wood is being held at the Medina County Jail on $100,000 bond.
