WADSWORTH — A rapid change in the weather to blizzardlike conditions resulted in several crashes near the Interstate 76 and state Route 57 interchange Tuesday afternoon.
“The weather quickly changed, the roads became snow-covered and icy,” Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Belcher said at the scene of one of the collisions.
“We handled several noninjury crashes between mile markers 4 and 8 (in) Medina County.”
Belcher said the series of crashes began at 12:40 p.m. and included single- and multivehicle collisions. All appeared to not involve injuries, he said.
“Wadsworth Police Department is out with probably three or four (crashes) and the highway patrol is out with another three or four,” Belcher said.
The crashes nearest to the interchange all occurred in the westbound lane and included a tractor-trailer that slid into a steel sign and two, two-car collisions.
