YORK TWP. — The Buckeye school board filled a new position Tuesday morning — director of operations.

The board approved a two-year contract, effective today, for Greg Pollock, former director of operations and transportation in Aurora. He will make $75,000 a year.

Pollock also previously served as principal of Leighton Elementary School in Aurora.

Superintendent Kent Morgan said the director of operations position was created after transportation director Roger Nowell announced his retirement this year.

Morgan said there have been a few changes in the district due to retirements as well as some things “in the personnel area” that haven’t been picked up.

As a result, he said, the district wanted to create a new position that covered transportation and some other responsibilities in the district.

“A large part of this director of operations will involve the transportation department and then … this person will be responsible for the classified staff and overseeing the food service facilities,” Morgan said.
