YORK TWP. — Superintendent Kent Morgan announced Wednesday that classes are canceled for remainder of the week for students at Buckeye Primary and Buckeye Intermediate schools because of mold.
“We had identified the molding in a classroom about a week ago. We thought we had an isolated incident,” Morgan said.
Mold since was discovered in other classrooms in the intermediate school building, he said.
The district has consulted with air quality experts from AirXperts LLC in Wadsworth, Morgan said in a statement on the district’s website, and will bring in other companies today to run more tests.
Once the contaminated areas have been contained, the mold will be removed and the rooms and ventilation will be professionally cleaned, he said.
Buckeye junior and high school programming and extracurricular activities will go on as scheduled,
The district hopes to have students back in school by Tuesday, Morgan said.
