International Overdose Awareness Day will be observed today at two locations in Medina County:
- 4 p.m. at Neura Park, 4637 Center Road, Brunswick. Participants will learn how to prevent overdose. Local agencies will provide information on how to receive free naloxone and multiple overdose survivor Megan Hawkins of Really Recovered will share her story.
- 6:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Chapel, 3939 Granger Road, Medina Township. Organizer Stefanie Robinson said has collected approximately 200 photos of those lost to drugs or alcohol. These photos represent the nearly 200 people who died every day last year due to overdose. She said there will be 200 empty seats to remember those who have died and to raise awareness.
The event will include stories from local mothers who have lost children this year, an overdose survivor, local leaders and many resources. Organizers will award three legacy awards to local groups impacting the community.
