Mary Marg & George Marquis
George “Hub” and Mary Marg (Wallover) Marquis were married Aug. 17, 1968, by Dr. E. G. Montag at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, Pa.
They have four children, Kevin (Stacie) Marquis of Hinckley Township, Susie (Kevin) Szymanski of Stow, Tim (Lindsay) Marquis of Baltic and Carol (Scott) Epperson of Medina; and nine grandchildren, Chase, Quinn, Wren, Chloe, Scout, Claire, Luke, Andrew and Lincoln.
Originally from western Pennsylvania, the Muskingum College graduate taught in the Muskingum local schools before moving to Medina in 1975 when Hub started at Wallover Oil Company in Strongsville. He retired as CEO in 2012 and as board chairman in 2016.
Hub has been active in the Medina community, including Medina County Career Center Board, Rotary, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Board, Medina Youth Baseball Program Commissioner, Y13-Y14 youth baseball traveling team coach, 15 years on the Medina Schools Board of Education and currently on the Medina City Schools Foundation Board.
Mary Marg has been involved through Bible Study Fellowship, with Medina Schools substitute teaching, Meals on Wheels, Medina Schools music programs and currently volunteers with Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Harvest Presbyterian Church, where they are members. They were the first couple to be inducted together into the Medina City Schools Hall of Fame.
Mary and George celebrated 50 years of marriage with their family on Hilton Head Island in June, and were recently honored by a family dinner.
