Sheryle S. & James L. Smith
Sheryle S. (Sprague) and James L. Smith will enjoy a quiet celebration with family to commemorate their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 17, 2018. At a later date they will enjoy a cruise, dinner and historical tour of the Lorain Lighthouse. The couple were married at the First United Methodist Church in Elyria by the Rev. Jennings.
They have two sons, Glen (Ali Graham) and Greg (Susan nee Freeman); and three grandchildren, Emily, Jackson and Joseph.
Shery is a graduate of Elyria High School and Kent State University through M.B. Johnson School of Nursing at Elyria Memorial Hospital. She has 43 years of active duty nursing in specialty areas. She volunteers with Mercy Parish Nurses, is a caregiver, and is a certified Reiki practitioner. Shery’s passions are family and friends, games, writing, drawing and swimming.
Jim is also a graduate of Elyria High School, Lorain County Community College and Kent State University. He taught English and history for 30 years at Clearview High School and U.S. history for 10 years at Lorain County Community College. Since 2002, Jim has been involved in public speaking for the Lorain County Historical Society. He is the Cascade Park historian and member of Friends of Cascade. In his spare time, Jim enjoys word games, jigsaw puzzles and historical research for Lorain County Historical Society programming.
Both Jim and Shery are active with the Center for Body, Mind and Spirit at the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
