Ilarae & Gordon Greene
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Greene will celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary with an Open House hosted by family 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Wellington Eagles Post No. 2051, at 631 S. Main Street. Please join them for food and friendship. No gifts, please — your favorite memory to share is sufficient.
The Greenes also will celebrate birthdays! Gordon turns 95 on May 7, 2019, and Ilarae turns 95 on Oct. 18, 2019.
The former Ilarae Ross and Gordon Greene were married May 27, 1944, at the home of the bride’s parents. The Rev. Jim Albertson and the Rev. F. E. Eastman officiated the ceremony. Their union blessed them with two children, Clifford (deceased), wife Anita, of Wooster, and Patricia, husband Al Seaburn, of Clyde; as well as three grandsons and six great-granchildren.
Mr. Greene served in the U.S. Army’s 9th Armored Division in Germany during World War II. He is a retired farmer, former member of the Lorain County Fair Board for more than 40 years, and served on many Lorain County agricultural boards and committees.
Mrs. Greene was employed as a beautician. She owned and operated La Rae’s Shearing Shop from her home for 26 years.
The couple has always been active in the community. They are members of First Baptist Church of Wellington. They volunteered for University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and as hospice home health aids.
Happy anniversary and happy birthday, Ilarae and Gordon Greene!
