MONTVILLE TWP. — Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting at a home in the 3500 block of Turnberry Drive.
At 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, the emergency room staff at Summa Health-Medina Medical Center called police to report they were treating a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to her hand, according to a news release.
An initial investigation indicated a black, semi-automatic handgun was discharged during a domestic disturbance at the home, police said.
John J. Wargo, 61, of the residence, was arrested and charged with felonious assault, police said. He was being held Wednesday at the Medina County Jail.
His 60-year-old wife, Cynthia, who drove herself to the emergency room, sustained a single, nonlife-threatening gunshot wound to the left hand, the release said, and she was treated at Medina and then transferred to Akron City Hospital.
Akron City had no record of Cynthia Wargo, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
