Medina Candlelight Walk schedule for this weekend

Main Street Medina is expecting between 30,000 and 40,000 people to attend this weekend’s 33rd annual Candlelight Walk in the city’s Historic District.

The event will kick off at 7 tonight with the lighting of the Christmas tree in the Uptown Park gazebo and the illumination of all the buildings on Public Square.

Today

  • 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. — holiday shopping in the district;
  • 4:30 p.m. — lighting of luminarias (Troop 501);
  • 5-8 p.m. — Medina Town Hall and Engine House Museum open;
  • 5:45 p.m. — Prince of Peace Lutheran Church choir (gazebo);
  • 7 p.m. — lighting of community Christmas Tree (gazebo) with Mayor Dennis Hanwell, Medina City Council; members, and Brad and Kathy Root and family;
  • 7:15 p.m. — Medina’s bicentennial kickoff toast, sponsored by Drug Mart.

Saturday

  • 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. — holiday shopping in the district;
  • 1-4 p.m. — McDowell Sleigh on Broadway (courtesy Medina County Historical Society), ($);
  • 2-9 p.m. — Medina Holiday Farmers Market (Broadway Street tent);
  • 2:30-4 p.m. — Living Nativity by Medina Presbyterian Church (Public Square);
  • 3 p.m. — ice-carving demonstration by Elegant Ice Creations (Public Square);
  • 3-5 p.m. — Santa’s Workshop, Huntington Bank, 39 Public Square;
  • 4-9 p.m. — Lolly the Trolley rides around town and to Root Candles (sponsored by Total Restoration and Painting and JK Gift Shop);
  • 5-7:30 p.m. — Medina County District Library Bookmobile (Broadway Street);
  • 5-8 p.m. — Medina Town Hall and Engine House Museum open;
  • 5:30 p.m. — Holiday Parade of Lights (Historic District) presented by Catholic Charities;
  • 6:15 p.m. — Light Up the Night Fireworks (sponsored in part by Huntington Bank and The Dress Bridal Boutique (Public Square, weather permitting);
  • 6:30 p.m. — Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive (Broadway Street/Santa Lane);
  • 6:30-9 p.m. — Visits and photographs with Santa Claus (sponsored by The Raspberry & The Rose, proceeds benefit The Children’s Center of Medina County), ($);
  • 7 p.m. — Brass Band of the Western Reserve, Medina Performing Arts Center, ($).

Sunday

  • noon to 6 p.m. — holiday shopping in the district;
  • noon to 6 p.m. — Medina Holiday Farmer’s Market (Broadway Street tent);
  • noon to 2 p.m., 3-6 p.m. — visits and photographs with Santa Claus (sponsored by The Raspberry & The Rose, proceeds benefit The Children’s Center of Medina County), ($);
