MEDINA — The city of Medina’s new website went live Monday.
Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell said the city decided about two years ago it needed to revamp its web presence.
“We wanted to make it more user-friendly and improve the overall appearance of our site,” he said.
Hanwell said the most important new features will allow people to sign up for things such utilities, park permits and building permits, as well as to pay for these services online.
He said new website users can get to any destination on the website in three clicks or fewer.
“I would say ease of use is likely the top feature,” Hanwell said.
WRIS, of Solon, has hosted the city’s website since 2014. Hanwell said WRIS agreed to update the website for no charge. He said the city wanted to take advantage of the offer.
A group of city staffers worked on the project, including Hanwell’s assistant, Sherry Crow, Miles Reed and Jarrod Fry of MedinaTV and the city’s IT manager, Darin Zaremba.
“(They) worked from early 2017 through 2018 with WRIS on the redesign and appearance of the new website,” Hanwell said. “I am very pleased with result and we will now continue to update and add additional material to it.”
