BRUNSWICK –– Brunswick Reformed Church was one of hundreds of churches nationwide that held a “Night to Shine” on Friday.

The dance, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, benefited people with special needs.

The Brunswick Reformed Church started holding a dance nearly 10 years ago and then paired with Tebow’s foundation a few years ago.

“This is the third year that we’ve been working with the Tim Tebow Foundation for the Night to Shine,” Pastor Jay Carroll said. “It has been a wonderful partnership.”

About 135 guests signed up to attend the dance and 185 volunteers helped it run smoothly.

The event, which was held at the Diamond Event Center, 2480 Pearl Road, had many activities for attendees including a professional photographer, a photo booth, makeup tables and shoe shine stations, limo rides and dinner.

The Diamond Center gave the church deal on the space and limo companies among others donated their services. Some other local businesses donated food.

After dinner, the dance floor opened up and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars started playing as people made their way out.

“The dancing, the dancing the dancing,” said 15-year-old Olivia Morrison of Highland about her favorite part of the night as she spun around on the dance floor. “The music, music the music, the music.”

Guests and volunteers ended the night dancing together and adorning crowns and tiaras.

“The dancing for me,” event volunteer Brian Kenderes said of his favorite part of the event.

“We just have great time. We’re on the dance floor and everyone’s just there to celebrate.”

In between dances, a video of Tim Tebow played in which he named all attendees the king and queen of the dance.
