Charges sought after teen shot with BB gun near Brunswick Library

BRUNSWICK –– A teenage girl was shot in the leg with a BB gun Monday afternoon near Brunswick Library and a 16-year-old boy is facing charges.

Officers responded to Brunswick Library at 4:59 p.m. for a report of a female juvenile who was shot in the leg with a BB gun.

“It actually did not occur at the library,” said police Lt. Robert Safran. “It occurred on the sidewalk area of the 3400 block area of Center Road.”

Safran said the 15-year-old girl went to the library for help.

“She was treated for two BB gun wounds,” said Safran. “Brunswick EMS responded and treated her on scene.”

The girl spoke to the police at the library, but the suspect was not on scene. The 16-year-old suspect was later found, arrested and taken to the Medina County Juvenile Detention Facility.

“The victim knew who the suspect was so it wasn’t something that had to be figured out,” Safran said.

The names of the victim and the suspect are not being released as they are both minors.

Further information is not being released until the police department talks with the juvenile prosecutor.
