MEDINA — After Kane Brown packed the grandstands at the Medina County Fair in 2018 with more than 8,000 people, many wondered who the fair would get to headline this year’s event.
The Medina County Fair announced Monday that this year’s act will be country singer Jake Owen, who last month released his sixth full-length album, “Greetings From … Jake.”
Owen will perform 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, in the grandstands. Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 4.
Owen fans will be able to snag their ticket at the fair office, 720 W. Smith Road. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and online sales and phone sales will begin at 9:30 a.m.
General track standing tickets are $38 plus a $4 service charge and reserve seating in the grandstand cost $33 plus a $4 service charge. The ticket price does not include fair admission.
The 37-year-old country singer released his debut album, “Startin’ with Me,” in 2006. He has toured with artists including Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Kenney Chesney, and Little Big Town.
“Greeting From … Jake” is a 14-track album with hits like “I Was Jack (You Were Diane),” “Grass Is Always Greener” and “Señorita.”
Some of Owen’s biggest hits include “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone with You” and “Beachin’.”
Owens was nominated for Single of the Year for “Down to the Honkytonk,” by the Academy of Country Music Awards, which put him in competition with Brown, last year’s Medina County Fair star performer. The award went to Dan + Shay for their hit “Tequila.”
For those who missed last year’s performance, Brown returns to Northeast Ohio on Friday, Aug. 9, when he performs with Aldean at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls. The show is part of the venue and Live Nation’s six-show 2019 Country MegaTicket, who allows concertgoers to see six hot summer concerts with the purchase of one ticket.
This year’s fair is set to take place from July 29 to Aug 4 at the Medina County Fairgrounds, 735 W. Lafayette Road.
