Benjamin J. Reber, 37, died peacefully Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Rainbow Ark Hospice in Chicago, surrounded by his loving family.
Benjamin Jerry Reber was born in Medina and graduated from Medina High School in 1999. He received his degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Cincinnati in 2004 and following graduation moved to Chicago to work with his brother, Tim, for two years at Woolpert, before joining Epstein & Sons, where he was employed as a licensed Professional Engineer.
A lover of music, cats, exotic vacation spots, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians, Browns, Chicago Blackhawks, professional soccer and spending time with friends and family, Ben married his love, Leigh Pyle, in 2012. Leigh was his devoted caregiver during the months of Ben's illness and together they strengthened family and friends with their courage, love and resilience.
Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Garvin McLaughlin, Vance and Esther McKee and Jacob and Maria Reber; uncle, Brian P. McKee and cousin, Brian P. McKee.
In addition to his wife, Leigh, survivors include his mother, Judy Reber McLaughlin; his father, Jerry Reber; brothers, Matthew (Alisa), Aaron (Kate) and Tim (Megan) Reber; nieces and nephews, Augie, Claire, Lucy, Ivan, Anabelle, Eva and Lou Reber; his in-laws, Barbara (Ed) Hemrich and Todd (Debbie) Pyle. They join Ben's aunts, uncles, cousins,
extended family and friends who loved his sweet and gentle nature and appreciated his sense of humor. Last but not least, he will be missed by his cats, Siggy and Milo.
A memorial service for Ben will be held at 6:30 P.M. (CST), Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Unity Temple, 875 Lake St., Oak Park, Illinois. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 North Broadway St., Medina.
