William F. (Bill) Haldiman, 90, of Seville, quietly passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 after a brief hospital stay.
He was the son of the late Frank and Lula Haldiman, he was a Seville native his entire life.
He was born and raised as a farmer, he toiled the family farm for 12 years before turning his many talents to carpentry work. He was well known for his craftsmanship and eye for detail and was known all over Medina County for the various jobs he did for homeowners as well as businesses. Like his late brother, Fred, Bill was a WWII Veteran, with the U.S. Air Force and served one of those years in Japan.
Bill was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Seville and in retirement enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and reading books of all kinds. He also assisted in building homes for Habitat for Humanity in Medina County and was known for having built steps for a dozen homes, the last set earlier this Spring after he turned 90. He had a life long love of bluegrass music and traveled around Ohio during his life to the many festivals and events featuring bluegrass music.
One of seven siblings, he is survived by only Phyllis (Roy) Ramsier of Rittman and Betty (Carl) Lindley of Shoals, Indiana; he is survived by his children, Cheryl (Dan) Shumaker, Sande Haldiman, Fred Haldiman (Bonnie Coughlin) and Bill (Monica) Haldiman, Jr.; grandfather of Curt (Val) Shumaker, Jenny Shumaker, Matthew (Heidi) Haldiman, Alyssa Haldiman and Dylan (Katie) Haldiman; great-grandfather of Jamison Heisel, Paige and Peyton Haldiman, Haley and Cole Haldiman and step-granddaughters, Kailey and Kassidy Kartisek; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by beloved wife, Martha; he was also preceded in death by his brother, Fred, Sylvia Bauer, Nina Rufener, Tressa Rufener and Marie Gasser.
The family will receive friends at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Road, Seville, Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 4 to 8 P.M. A service will be held at the church Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11 A.M. with family greeting callers one hour prior to the service.
