Joseph C. Kornmayer, 83, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2017. Joe was born in Valley City on March 28, 1934, to the late Anthony and Dorothy (nee Eilers) Kornmayer. He had been a lifelong Medina County resident.
Joe had been a farmer and general contractor/carpenter all his life. He helped build homes, pole barns and was quite gifted as a handyman doing any repairs that were needed. He also had worked for Wolff Bros. Supply and Smith Bros. Joe was an avid train enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine (nee Gunkelman) of 62 years; daughter, Jayne Smith (Scott King) and grandson, Jeremy Smith; special caregiver, Sandy Smith; extended family, Cheri (Eric) Eden and their children, Savannah and Dominic, Mark and Renee Seiwerth; cousins, Greg (Debbie) Nichols, their son, Joe and (fiancee Leah) and Jon (Becky) Nichols and their children, Tyler and Chrissy.
Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2233 Abbeyville Road, Valley City. The Reverends Doug Gunkelman and Jim Watson will officiate. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Valley City.
