On Monday, January 15, 2018, the world stopped, for the briefest of moments, so Hugh B. Turner, Jr. could step off. Passing peacefully from this world to the next. Hugh was born July 6, 1947 in Cleveland, to the late Hugh, Sr. and Jewel (nee Hrice) Turner. He had resided in Litchfield since 1948.
He was a 1965 graduate of Buckeye High School. Hugh served in the U.S. Army for two years. Hugh had been employed at BASF, formerly Harshaw Chemical for 40 years. Hugh was a member of the Valley City VFW Post #5563 and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Hugh truly enjoyed being in "his park" watching the birds and squirrels that he kept fed daily.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sandy (nee Keller), married 46 years; daughters, Rachel LaChance, Renee (Raymond) Allison and Robin (Gregory) Winterstein; grandchildren, D.J., Gage, Danielle, Gabrielle, Ray, Jr., Ezmarelda, Elvria, Veronica, Turner, Sean, Evelyn and Lenore.
Funeral Service will be at 2 P.M., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City. The Reverend Phillip Zielinski will officiate. Calling hours are from 3 to 7 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. At Hugh's request, cremation will follow services and burial will be held later at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Louis Stokes VA Center, 10791 East Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44106, Hospice of Western Reserve, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina, OH 44256 or charity of donor's choice.
