Virgil L. Arthur, 84, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018. He was born in Webster Springs, West Virginia on August 4, 1933, to the late William C. and Genevieve (Baker) Arthur.
Virgil honorably served his Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was also a member of the Merchant Marines. After his service, Virgil went on to work for Ford Motor Company's Brook Park Plant, where he was a machine operator for 40 years. Virgil was an avid gardener and "keeper of the land". He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Virgil is survived by his children, Charlene R. Arthur of Medina, Garry L. (Carol) Arthur of Litchfield, Darrell L. (Marianne) Arthur of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, Ronald W. (Karin) Arthur of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Teresa E. (Thomas) Swindig of Wellington and Christopher S. Arthur of Olmsted Falls; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne R. (Carolyn) Arthur of Parry Hall, Maryland, Mabel G. (Carl) Ware of Medina and Carol Ann Arthur of Webster Springs, West Virginia and his many friends and caretakers at Elmcroft of Medina.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marjorie Rose Arthur; brothers, Wesley L., Edward A. and Earl D. Arthur and sisters, Virginia Ruth Arthur and Macel Jean (Arthur) Beuger.
Services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11 A.M., at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Pastor Mark Campo will officiate. Burial will follow at Litchfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 26, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., in the funeral home.
