Stanley W. Vansach, 74, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Medina Hospital. He was born November 23, 1943 in Cleveland, to Steve and Cecelia (Szychowski) Vansach.
Stanley graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland and entered the U.S. Navy after graduation. He spent the next 22 years traveling the world numerous times during his Navy career, retiring as Master Chief Petty Officer in 1988. He served aboard the U.S.S. Proteus, Niagara Falls, Sutherland, Bryce Canyon and Blue.
Upon retiring, he and his wife Sharon moved to Spencer. His retirement years led him to his love of cars. He attended and participated in countless car shows, his prize 1930 Model A capturing Street Rod of the Year, at the Street Rod Nationals, 1964 Grand Prix Class winner, at the Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk and 1952 Chevy Crusin Times Hot Pick of the Year. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Free Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, to whom he married April 21, 1972; brother, Anthony (Casey) wife, Tina Vansach of LaGrange; sister-in-law, Temple Vansach of Brunswick and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steve Vansach.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 12 P.M. at Parker Funeral Home, 202 E Main St., Spencer, 330-648-2180. Chaplain Don Bolich will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
