Norman J. Hamm, 89, of Brunswick, passed away with family by his side Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born May 13, 1928 in Cleveland, to the late Francis and Frances (nee Bernard) Hamm.
Norman was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 28th Infantry and later went to work as a splicer/engineer for Ohio Bell, Ameritech and AT&T, retiring after 40 years. He met his wife, Virginia during 4-H, which turned in to 65 years of wedded bliss. His love of 4-H and service beyond self, paved a path for serving on the Medina County Fair Board and being past president of the Brunswick Kiwanis.
During his lifetime, Norman received numerous awards and accolades such as the Governor's Award at the state mansion and Citi "Suns" of the Year. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and loved to tell people the story of how he won a car on The Price is Right.
Norman will be deeply missed by the many who knew and loved him especially his beloved wife, Virginia; daughter, Debi (Mark) Kaufman; grandchildren, Kimberly (Larry) Hollingshead and Brett Kaufman; great-granddaughters, April and Hailey; brother, Edward (Anne, deceased) Hamm and many extended family members and friends.
Family will receive friends Monday, February 5, 2018 from 4 to 7 P.M., at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick. A service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. Burial with Honors to follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
