Gerald "Jerry" Cox, 83, of Penfield, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 surrounded by family, after a short illness. Jerry was born December 21, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Glen and Ruth (Dumas) Snellenberger. He was raised by Ernest and Pearl (Opfer) Cox in the LaGrange and Penfield areas. He was a 1953 LaGrange High School graduate and a 1955 graduate of the Oberlin School of Commerce.
He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked for R.S. & W. Oil and retired from Columbia Gas Transmission in 1997. Jerry loved spending time with his family, traveling and his cats Boomer and Bozzy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Marianne (Pilot); sons, Gregory of Penfield, Steven (Tracy) of Wellington and David of Penfield; brother-in-law, The Reverend Kenneth Pilot of Fort Collins, Colorado; granddaughters, Bree Johnson, Melissa Cox and great-grandchildren, Madisyn Johnson, Jayden Meadows and Tyler Cox.
He was preceded in death by his parents; birth parents; son, Keith Cox and by several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Saturday, February 10, 2018 in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton from 11 A.M. until services at 1 P.M., with The Reverend Kenneth Pilot officiating.
