Betty Jane Eastwood, 92, of Hinckley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 7, 2018. She was born July 22, 1925 in Cuyahoga Falls, to the late Charles and Bernice (nee Culver) Obendorf.
Though she was known to a generation of Richfield Elementary Students as "the playground lady," Betty was quite an accomplished woman. Betty was a key scouter and the first female commissioner for Boy Scouts of America, Old Portage Council. She was elected as a clerk of council and finance director for the Village of Richfield.
She and her first husband John were Citizens of the Year in Richfield in 1970. The greatest love of her life though was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her children, David (Norma) Rockwood, Thomas Rockwood, and Michael (Crystal) Rockwood; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchild; brother, Charles (Patricia) Obendorf; sister, Dorothy Allison and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Jr. Rockwood; second husband, Gordon Eastwood; daughter, Virginia; granddaughter, Bethany and her brother, Carl.
Friends may call for a memorial visitation Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10 to 11 A.M. at Remsen Christian Church, 1500 Remsen Rd., Medina with a service to follow at 11 A.M. Inurnment will be held at Richfield Cemetery, Richfield.
