Clarence C. Jones, Jr., 90, of Spencer Township, died surrounded by his family Friday, February 16, 2018. He was born October 10, 1927 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania and played clarinet in the high school band.
During WWII, Clarence served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific aboard The USS James M. Gillis. He was employed for 20 years as a welder at Brown Finn Tube, Elyria and as a machinist at Nordson, Amherst from where he retired.
His first love was the outdoors and being a farmer and sheep breeder. He enjoyed reading about sheep and history and in 1973 produced rare black pigment twin lambs. He was a member of Elyria Masonic Lodge #787. Other interests included playing rummy, where he was known to stretch the rules, crossword puzzles and watching old cowboy westerns.
Clarence is survived by his children, Mark (Barbara) Jones of Thornton, Colorado, Beverly (Lee) Cooper and Donna (Wayne) Perron, both of LaGrange; grandchildren, Mindy, Nicole, Brandi and Mike; six great-grandchildren and a brother, William (Sally) Jones of Port Charlotte, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica Jones in 2015; parents, Clarence and Wilma Jones and a brother, Lloyd Jones.
