Donnie W. Dewees

Donnie W. Dewees, 81, of Newton Falls, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his home, surrounded by loving family. Donnie was born in Nitro, West Virginia, to the late Eugene Clair and Margie (Davis) Dewees.

He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Union Local 1714, after 30 years. He and his wife, Peggy, were owners of Mulligan's Pub in Newton Falls.

Donnie enjoyed sports, especially the Cleveland Indians and Browns, playing golf, poker, pool, fishing and spending winters in Florida. He cared deeply for his friends and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he teased relentlessly and he LOVED to argue politics.

Donnie is survived by Margaret "Peggy" (Brock), his wife of 55 years; together they raised four children, a son, Donald "Bud"; his daughters, Mary (Omar) Tatman, Margie (Frank) Hanzes and Barb Dewees (Dave First), all of Newton Falls; his grandchildren, Dawn (Paul), Ciara (Rory), Donnie, Madeline (Ricky), Maggie, Lily, Elizabeth, Veronica, Frankie, Gina and Jaclyn and great-grandchildren, Kadynce, Sophia, Klyde, Athena, Christina, Scott, Zachary, Larry and DeLaena.

Donnie was preceded in death by his son, Joseph John; brothers, Eugene (Shirbie), Jerry (Judith), Michael (Donnarae) and Glen; sister, Reathel Cochran and great-granddaughter, Quinn McCalmont.

Friends may call the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4 until 6:30 P.M., where a memorial service will immediately follow at 6:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations please be made to the Animal Welfare League, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd. SE, Vienna, OH 44473 in memory of Donnie Dewees.
