John C. "Jack" Wilcox, of Copley, passed away at Concordia at Sumner on Monday, July 23, 2018 following a short illness. He was born July 18, 1931 in Hackensack, New Jersey, to John C. and Virginia (nee Paulison) Wilcox.
Jack was a devoted family man, taking his wife and four sons on many rewarding vacations across the Country in the 1970's. He and his loving wife, Carol were married for 59 years and enjoyed traveling, singing in the church choir and hosting parties for friends and neighbors.
He was also a lifelong sports fan (especially of the New York Yankees) and had many close personal and business friends and associates. Jack and Carol lived from coast to coast, including twice in Medina, interrupted by 24 years in Walnut Creek, California.
Jack received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. After graduation, he began a long and storied 38 year career with The Babcock & Wilcox Company, holding positions of increasing responsibility in the Field Service and Industrial & Marine Sales Departments. Jack was a charter member of CIBO, the Council of Industrial Boiler Owners and gave many power generation industry presentations over the years at its annual conference.
Surviving him are his four sons, Geoffrey L. (Karen) of Fairfield, California, Peter A. (Brenda) of Orange, California, John "Jack" C. III (Lori) of Sharon Center and Andrew C. (Laura) of Napa, California; sister, Mary Jane Hamlin of Falmouth, Maine; nieces, nephews and other in-laws and many dear friends.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 59 years, Carol.
In accordance with his wishes, Jack will be cremated. There will be no visitation. Friends and family are invited for a celebration of life at The United Church of Christ Congregational located on the square of Medina, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ Congregational, 217 E. Liberty St., Medina, OH 44256.
The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd., Medina.
