Robert B. Ferrell, 85, passed away at his home, surrounded by family on Friday, September 14, 2018. Bob currently lived in Mt. Vernon and had previously lived in Lodi for most of his adult life. He was born November 4, 1932 in Pomeroy, Ohio, to William Harley and Elsie (Roberts) Ferrell.
Bob served in the U.S. Army in active duty during the Korean War as a troop train engineer taking the men to the front line and bringing the wounded back. He also served as a frogman during his active duty.
Bob retired from Consolidated Freightways where he received the distinguished three million mile safe driving award. He was a member of Amity United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lodi American Legion Post 523.
Bob is survived by his wife of 20 years, Donna (Cummings) Ferrell; children, Debbie (Tom) Groetz and Tim (Pam) Ferrell; he has two grandchildren, Gary (Kristen) Groetz and Christi Nelson; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Emily and Gage; brothers, Charles and Richard (Karen) Ferrell; Bob also has two stepsons, Gary (Terri) and Steve Harper and four step-grandchildren, Cody, Cody, Wyatt and Katelynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kessel, Glen, Bill and Jack; sisters, Marie Hauck, Elladene Watson, Eloise Smith, Mildred Miller, Jean Keele and infant sister, Florence.
A memorial service will be held 11 A.M., Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330) 948-1122. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M., Thursday. Military Services and interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio in Bob's memory.
