Jeffrey Allen Weaver, 57, of Medina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 15, 2018 after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born January 12, 1961 in Akron, to Philip and Virginia (Riley) Gumpl.
He was a Wadsworth High School graduate and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Gulf War and Desert Storm. Jeff was a highly decorated Sailor and was twice selected as Sailor of the Year. He served as an Operations Specialist, Air Intercept Control Supervisor and Carrier Strike Group Commander and retired after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Medina VFW Post #5137.
Jeff had been employed at Do It Best of Medina prior to him being self-employed as a Home Inspector. He was an active member of Heartland Community Church in Medina. He was an avid Harley rider, enjoyed playing his guitar and was noted as a standup comedian.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Philip Gumpl and his grandson, Conner Weaver.
He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Terry Weaver; children, Joseph (Sarah) Weaver, Stephen Weaver (Anna Puckett) and Amber (Jim) Drayer and their children, Maddie, Serena, Kamila, Kayden and Jacob; mother, Virginia Gumpl; sister, Cindy (Bill) Burstadt and countless number of friends and Harley riders
Calling hours are Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at The Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. A funeral service will be Thursday, September, 20, 2018 at 12:30 P.M. at The Heartland Community Church, 3400 Weymouth Road, Medina. Pastor Dave Ambrose will be officiating. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, with full Military Honors.
