Paul J. Vekas, Sr., 84, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Brook Park. He was born August 31, 1934 to the late Alexander and Pauline (Kovach) Vekas in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Paul served his Country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. Over the years he worked for many grocery stores including Heinens and Giant Eagle. He loved going fishing, golfing and most of all wood carving.
Paul is survived by his loving daughters, Sandra Lynn (Anthony) Moore and Janet Lukacs (Frank Lukacs); son-in-law, Tim Mandilakis; cherished grandchildren, Alex, Jessica, Bobby, Rachel, Jeremy, Brian, Lauren and Emily and great-grandchildren, Joey, June, Kason and Ryker.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia in 2012; son, Paul A. Vekas, Jr.; daughter, Linda Mandilakis; brothers, Al, Danny and Steve and sisters, Esther and Marge.
Friends and family may call Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 3 to 7 P.M. at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 18, 2019 at 8:45 A.M. at St. Martin Catholic Church, 3800 Station Road, Valley City. Burial with Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
