Michael L. Hereda, 66, a lifelong resident of Wadsworth and more recently having resided in Rittman, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on Wednesday, February, 6, 2019. Michael was born in Akron on July 23, 1952 to the late John and Jackie (Fisher) Hereda.

Mike was a 1970 graduate of Wadsworth High School and also a graduated from Walsh University. Mike coached his boys and many other youths in different sports including Wadsworth Youth Baseball and Wadsworth Youth Football for many years. Mike worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 48 years. He also worked for the Wadsworth Police Department, Medina County Sheriffs Department and the Village of Gloria Glens for nearly 40 years.

He was actively involved with the Medina County Sheriffs Explorers Post 2252. Mike enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their various activities. He also loved vacationing in Hilton Head with his wife, Elaine.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg Hereda and mother and father-in-law, Lester and Lucile Kasserman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elaine (Kasserman); daughter, Tanya (Don) Miksch; sons, Matthew, Michael and Marcus (Jeanine) Hereda; grandchildren, Jordan and Brandon Miksch, Andrew and Owen Hereda, Drew, Jaret and Ben Lilly; sisters-in-law, Debbie Hereda, Janet (Roy) Patton and Connie (Scott) Brewer; brother in-law, Ken (Vicky) Kasserman, also many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 4 to 8 P.M., Sunday, February 10, 2019 at The Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 11, 2019 at 9 A.M. with Father Robert Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Akron General Hospital for the excellent care Mike received.
