It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Wires on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Rick was a loving husband and soulmate to Tami and amazing father to Kaitlyn "Kati" Foster. Rick was born December 20, 1953 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to Donald and Virginia Wires.
Rick grew up on the Ohio River in Little Hocking and Belpre and had many fond memories of time spent with family boating and skiing on the river. His family moved to Brunswick for a short time before settling in Medina. Rick graduated from Medina High School, class of 1972, where he enjoyed playing football and having fun. Rick attended The Ohio State University.
Rick was a hard worker and excelled in several different careers. He thoroughly enjoyed working in sales in forming and shoring for Safeway and then Symons. He ended his career working in international sales with Hobb International. As much as he was a hard worker, he played just as hard. Rick played softball for years. He was a member of the Thursday night golf league at Ridge Top Golf Course. He also had a deep love of the ocean and beach where he could be found since moving to Florida. He loved getting out on the water, scuba diving and spear fishing in his new home in the Florida Keys.
Rick thoroughly enjoyed life and was known for his wonderful sense of humor and one liners. Nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with friends and family, an afternoon on the golf course, driving his 1969 Jaguar XKE or having a great conversation over a glass of red wine. He will be missed by many.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Tami (Collins) Wires; his pride and joy his daughter, Kaitlyn and her husband, Kevin Foster; his sister, Carolyn Stahl (Jerry); brothers, Harold Wires (Cynthia) and Roger Wires (Debbie) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Wires and Virginia Louk and brother Don Wires, Jr.
Visitation will be held at 4 P.M., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Medina Community Church, 416 South Broadway St., Medina with a service to celebrate Rick's wonderful life and dinner will follow.
