Dionnia Slythia Martin, 52, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She held onto life long enough to pass her strength onto her family in order to ensure that they would be strong enough without her. That's the type of person she was.
She enjoyed a lot of fun things, including spending time with her family, riding bikes, painting rocks of kindness, dancing, showing up for equal rights and her journey researching her genealogy and Native American heritage.
She was born in Nashville, Tennessee to William Scalf and Bonnie (Brewer) Stephens. Dionnia honorably served her Country in the U.S. Army. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Dionnia is survived by her husband of 34 years, Tony; children, Nakita (Jordan) Wing, Lisa Martin and Anthony Martin; grandchildren, Ellee, Jaxon, Greyson and Connor; father, William Scalf; mother, Bonnie (Marlin Bruce) Stephens and sisters, Darrah and Missy.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Kay.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 2 to 5 P.M. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, where funeral services will be held at 5 P.M. following calling hours. Please meet at Waite & Son Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, 2019 at promptly 1: P.M. for the burial procession to Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
