Dr. Robert H. Winter, M.D.


Robert H. Winter of Westfield Center, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. Born in Columbus on April 30, 1938 his family moved to Leroy, Ohio (Westfield Center) in 1947.

Bob graduated from Westfield High School in 1956 and attended Walbash College from 1956-1960 graduating Magna Cum Laude. He attended Duke University Medical School, graduating in 1964. He did his medical internship and radiology residency at Indiana University Medical Center.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Viet Nam at the 85th EVAC Hospital and was also stationed at Fort Knox. He practiced radiology with his dear friend, partner and mentor, Dr. Richard Gross at Medina Community Hospital (now Cleveland Clinic) until retirement.

Bob loved fishing, golf and studying history, but his real love was for his beloved wife, Nancy and daughters, Christina and Amanda.

Dr. Winter is survived by his wife, Nancy (Bryant) Winter who wishes to thank Dr. Austriaco, Dr. Mendpara and Dr. Eltayeb for all the years of their care and devotion to her husband.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughters, Christina and Amanda and his parents.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 1 P.M. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert and Nancy Winter Scholarship Fund at Walbash College or to Hospice of Medina County.

A special thanks to Bob's many friends, caregivers, doctors and staff at the Avenue of Medina.
