Jerry L. Bates, 60, of Lodi, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Medina Meadows in Medina, following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born July 8, 1958, to Calvin and Leila (Shuey) Bates of Friendsville, Ohio.
He was a Cloverleaf High School graduate. Jerry lived in Nebraska and Denver, Colorado before returning to Ohio, where he lived in the Lodi area for approximately 30 years. He worked at various jobs but his passion was his trucking business. Jerry enjoyed sporty cars, his dune buggy, motorcycles, rebuilding tractors, cooking, his pets and spending time with his family.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his mother, Leila Bates of Friendsville; siblings Don (Lea) Bates of Boswell, Indiana, Barb Bates of Seville, Alice Eckley of Friendsville, Pam (Jeff) Walmsley of Ravenna and James (Deidra) Bates of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin and brother-in-law, James Eckley.
Jerry will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his special group of high school friends who were there for him until the end.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 12 Noon at Parker Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, (330) 948-1122. Pastor Steve Mueller will officiate.
